gical structures of hyperplasic prostatic tissues from surgically treated BPH specimens. The role of inflammation in BPH development was highlighted by its correlation with the prostate volume, metabolism and PSA level.Collaborative signaling between fibronectin-binding αv and α5 integrins has been implicated in the lethal dissemination of prostate cancer in the bone-metastatic niche, the major source of morbidity and mortality in the disease.
We assessed the frequency and pattern of expression of these integrins in primary high-grade adenocarcinomas and bone metastases compared to the physiological gland. Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) radical prostatectomy (RP) samples (n=25) containing ? Gleason grade 4 cancer and decalcified surgical or diagnostic bone metastatic samples from 10 patients were stained for integrin αv (ITGAV) and integrin α5 (ITGA5) expression. Antibody optimization and antigen-retrieval was performed beforehand.
ITGAV was exclusively expressed in the basal layer of physiological prostate glands whereas αv expression was invariably recapitulated in the malignant gland and bone metastases (100%) in multiple distinct patterns epithelial membranous, basilar/luminal membranous, punctate cytoplaatory role that has been proposed. Co-expression and enrichment of αv and α5 in osseous metastases supports their proposed collaborative role in colonization of the bone microenvironment and as candidate targets for therapy.Marital status has been considered as an independent prognostic factor for various types of cancer survival. The objectives of our study were to investigate the function of marital status on the survival of upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) patients.
The patients diagnosed with UTUC between 1988 and 2015 were captured within the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Patients were classified into married, divorced/separated, widowed and single cohorts. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analysis was conducted to assess the effects of marital status on overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS). A 11 matched-pair analysis was performed to optimize the final statistical results by propensity score matching (PSM).
Among the 10,852 eligible patients, the percentage of married, divorced/separated, widowed and single patients accounted for 58.2% (6,321), 9.0% (980), 23.3% (2,526) and 9.4% (1,025) respectively. The widowed patients had the worst OS and CSS. Marital status was a predictive factor for OS and CSS of UTUC patients. The results of multivariate Cox regression showed that the worst OS [hazard ratio (HR) 1.41; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.33-1.49, P<0.001] and the poorer CSS (HR 1.32; 95% CI 1.22-1.43, P<0.001) were existed in the widowed patients, compared with married patients. The results of the stratified analysis by primary site also indicated the same conclusion. Furthermore, the results were confirmed in the 11 matched group.

This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of international prostatic symptom score-voiding/storage score ratio (IPSS-V/S), urodynamic examination, intravesical prostatic protrusion (IPP) and residual urine volume (RUV) on the efficacy of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) before operation.
Ninety-six patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) were enrolled in this study. Each patient was diagnosed as BPH and completed all the evaluations as described above before the same urologist surgeon performed HoLEP. Three months later, another IPSS questionnaire would be finished by each patient to assess the efficacy of the operation. According to the results of IPSS after operation, the group with significant effect and the group with poor effect were divided. Then compare the difference of preoperative examination results between the two groups.
In single factor analysis, the differences of the age, voiding symptom score, V/S, RUV, Qmax and IPP between the two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). While there was no significant difference in IPSS score and score of urine storage period. In the logistic regression analysis, the age of patients, V/S, RUV, IPP and Qmax can establish a good prediction model. In this model, the younger the patients are, the less the RUV is, the larger the V/S and IPP are, the more likely they are to achieve good efficacy of HoLEP.
In conclusion, HoLEP was more effective in BPH patients with younger age, more IPP, less RUV, less Qmax and those whose IPSS score was mainly based on voiding symptoms.
In conclusion, HoLEP was more effective in BPH patients with younger age, more IPP, less RUV, less Qmax and those whose IPSS score was mainly based on voiding symptoms. An increasing amount of evidence has indicated that microRNAs (miRs) are involved in most biological conditions, including the neurogenic bladder (NB). However, to our knowledge, no studies have investigated these miR expressions in spinal cord-injured (SCI) rat NB. The goal of the study was to explore the miR expression profile in the SCI rat NB by next-generation sequencing (NGS).
Female Wistar rats underwent spinal cord transection at T9-10 and were randomly divided into the SCI-1, SCI-2 and SCI-3 groups (n=5 for each group) whose bladder tissues were collected 1, 2, and 4 weeks after transection, respectively. The normal rats were used as the normal control (NC) group. MiRs microarray assays were used to detect the differentially expressed miRs between the groups by NGS, which was then verified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Those significantly differently expressed miRs were analyzed with Gene Ontology categories and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes bioinformatical analyses.
